The Voice of Woe!
It's been around three years since I have been staying away from everything I was born and brought up with, the first time away from home! I would like to use this opportunity to describe what it would be like if you were a guest in your own home. I continue to hear this from my friends and family, "OMG! Outside of the station, your life is wonderful and you are doing well" But, my pal let me tell you the truth, Others may consider life to be all that glitters and is gold. My darling, you ought to be aware of the hammers that are hidden behind all the glitters.
MONTHS OF STRUGGLING AND DAYS FOR THE PARTY, LET ME TELL YOU WHAT IT IS EXACTLY.
Getting up every day without being awakened by the mum, which might seem paradoxical, is really hard.
Ask those, who slept on an empty stomach last night after missing a good supper.
Ask those, who stayed up all night studying out of dread of exams.
Ask those, who sobbed for their families in their pillows the night before.
Ask those, who wanted to meet someone, but shit those restrictions to maintain attendance.
Ask those, who didn't even get any sleep at all last night.
Okay! Let me leap to the morning then,
MY FRIEND, IT IS NOT AT ALL EASY TO GET UP EVERY DAY, DO YOUR WORK, AND PASS A SMILE AT THOSE PASSING YOU ON THE PAVEMENT.
Ask those, who are coming to the hostels for the first time.
Ask those, who have slept after having the hostel made Maggie as their dinner.
Ask those, who have had, given the most difficult adieus of their life.
Ask those, who miss their mothers' homemade cooking the most.
Ask those, who didn't celebrate festivals with their family.
IT IS NOT AT ALL EASY TO GET UP EVERY DAY, DO YOUR WORK, AND PASS A SMILE AT THOSE PASSING YOU ON THE PAVEMENT. DOING THIS WITH FRIENDS? THE CONTEXT IS AMUSING YET TERRIFYING.
Ask those, who found it hard to initiate conversations.
Ask those, who are sleeping with strangers under the same roof.
Ask those, who have preserved the food for months that mum gave you.
Ask those, who have made their own life decisions.
And, Ask those, who came to the class to learn something with all the excitement.
Lengths of assignments, Stack of books, Bags of undone laundry, Unwanted hostel and bills, Long waited back home trips, Inevitable loneliness.
LONG TEXTS FROM FRIENDS SAYING THAT "YOU HAVE CHANGED" AND LONG TEXTS SAYING "YOU DON'T HAVE TIME."
A large list of priorities that have altered, as well as living on the verge of loneliness and sadness, putting some of your interests on hold, and always being in the dark.
IT IS NOT AT ALL EASY DEAR!
For those who will be moving this year, next year, or in the future, buckle yourself up!
Though the career path may not be a bed of roses, it is nevertheless worthwhile to pursue. There is no better place to explore YOURSELF than being away from home. You will get the roses in life, but only after passing the branch of thorns. Always remember my dear,
"HARDEST GOODBYES ARE THE GATEWAYS FOR THE GREATEST MOMENTS!"
Myan... You just lit it up.. π it's a tight slap to those who are thinking that their hostel life will be fun-filled π€£ even I was imagining a "Happy days" like college lifeπ€£π€£π€£... Anyways reality hits hard...
ReplyDeletePs - Better words are used... Take a bow... Good luck for the rest of your work.
